Em 1936, em São Paulo, os imigrantes italianos, Joaquim Paioletti e Francisco Ragosta, criavam a PADO: era, então, apenas uma fundição, que atendia encomendas de arreios e estribos para cavalos. Mais tarde, os dois empresários associaram-se ao alemão Dorner. Esta é a origem do nome PADO, resultado da fusão das duas primeiras sílabas dos sobrenomes dos dois sócios, Paioletti e Dorner.
